Ugh, this is no laughing matter.

In an exclusive chat with E! News, Shrill Star, Writer and Producer Aidy Bryant opens through the third and final season of the Hulu comedy, which premieres on Friday, May 7th. And according to Aidy, the ending of Shrill was certainly “bittersweet”.

“I am so sad that it is coming to an end and I loved working with this group of people so much,” she told E! News. “You really enjoyed fulfilling my life. But I’m really, really proud of it and I love where it ends.”

To refresh your memory, the second season with Annie (Aidy) stopped and broke up with her unbearable boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones). So what’s next for Annie? A hot girls summer mood and some ups and downs at work.

The streaming service continued teasing, “Everything seems to be finally fitting for Annie – she managed to fire her husband-and-child friend, grab the attention of a powerful new mentor, and snag some high profile assignments – so why not ? ” Everything clicks? Sometimes life’s great challenge isn’t getting what you want but knowing what you want. “
